Whilst MAISI might not be as well known as some other dash cam producers, the extreme HD Pro seems like a great option. At it’s price, it appears to be a pretty safe option for those looking for a budget dash cam. Is it as good as it seems, though?
If you’re looking for a nice British brand, then MAISI HD Pro would probably be a pretty good option. The company is based in the UK, which is great for those looking for a local option. It isn’t necessary for most, but for some people it’s important to keep product sourcing localised.
Usually, this might be considered as paying extra for nothing, as most video cameras are all made in Asia anyway. But, MAISI have managed to keep the prices low with direct from factory delivery, which basically means that you aren’t paying any unnecessary additional costs that are custom when purchasing big name brand products.
- 1296p Resolution – Unlike many other of the dash cams available on the market right now, this dash cam has a res of 1296p. This is significant increase on the regular standard of 1080p. Most people will not need any more than 1080p, but as this dash cam is a similar price than the others, then in our eyes it is worth considering the HD Pro as an option.
- 3D-DNR Tech – Now, we’re not going to pretend to be experts and completely understand how the 3D-DNR technology works. Basically, it helps create a better night time image and will make things more easily identifiable when you’re looking at your night time dash cam footage.
- 4 Megapixel – The image resolution is fantastic. With a 4 megapixel image sensor, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better quality video recording than that of the one produced with the MAISI.
You’re unlikely to find an image quality this good at this price.
A decent dash cam is not cheap. You won’t really find a decent one at less than £20 or £30, and if you’re looking for one around that budget, take our advice. Wait a bit longer, save a bit more, and buy a decent one. If you’re spending that kind of money, the likelihood is the image quality will be poor and you won’t be able to see anything. You’re better off waiting a little while and investing in the MAISI HD Pro. You” be amazed at the difference in image quality for just that little bit extra.
It has a great, visible display.
If you’re looking for a small dash cam, then this probably isn’t it. But, if you’re looking for a dash cam that has a wide frame and a quality image, then this is a great option.
The Built in G-Sensor protects you against emergencies.
Many dash cams now have a G-Sensor built into them, which automatically detects incidents and records them. This means that you don’t have to worry about missing that crucial moment if your dash cam isn’t on.
It’s pretty wide.
As mentioned above, sometimes the positives may also be considered as negatives. It’s quite a wide dash cam and has a 2.7 inch display, meaning that you will notice it on your dash. You’ll get used to it, of course, but for some people a smaller dash cam is a necessity.
It isn’t as effective at night
As expected with every dash cam, this one does not film in as good quality through the night as it does in the day. In fact, it kind of pales in comparison to some of the other cameras in terms of night vision. We’re by no means saying it’s terrible because it isn’t, it just is not one of the best aspects of this dash cam.
If you’re looking for a decent dash cam that will do most jobs well, then you should definitely consider the MAISI. at the price it is currently, it is one of the cheapest dash cams available (bar those extremely cheap, worthless ones that you shouldn’t even consider). If cost is an issue to you, then this is definitely a dash cam that you should consider.
It has pretty much everything that you could need in a dash cam. The only thing that lets it down slightly is the quality of the vision through the night, though this isn’t substantial. This dash cam should definitely be in your list of consideration.
